Educational trip of students to the Zinc Rolling Mill Museum: the history of industry and the interconnection of science and technology

On March 28, 2026, students of Kyiv Medical University embarked on an educational visit to the Zinc Rolling Mill Museum — a unique space where the history of industry comes to life amid authentic workshops and machinery.

The excursion became a true immersion into the atmosphere of the 19th century. In the historic production halls, filled with original equipment once used for zinc processing, one could almost feel the rhythm of one of Silesia’s most important industrial enterprises. Particularly striking were the massive rolling mills, intricate industrial structures, as well as steam generators and boilers preserved in near-original condition. The students also visited a separate exhibition featuring a collection of vintage motorcycles, including Harley-Davidson and Indian, with pre-war and military models on display.

This journey was both insightful and inspiring, offering a fresh perspective on the interplay between science, technology, and history, and reminding us that every modern achievement is deeply rooted in the past.
