Exploring Innovation at the European Health Tech Innovation Center (EHTIC) in Zabrze

On August 28, 2025, as part of the KMU Summer Medical Camp, our students had the unique opportunity to visit the European Health Tech Innovation Center (EHTIC) in Zabrze, Poland — a state-of-the-art research facility driving innovation in biomedical engineering and medical technologies.
EHTIC, based on the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering, serves as a hub for interdisciplinary research, promoting cutting-edge medical technologies and supporting international collaboration between engineers, physicians, physiotherapists, and experts from related fields.
During the visit, students were impressed by the wide range of high-tech laboratories, including:
Laboratory of minimally invasive procedures and surgery
Ultrasound laboratory
Computer diagnostics laboratory
Biomechanics laboratory of the human musculoskeletal system
Laboratory for human movement analysis
Virtual reality technologies laboratory
Laboratory for microscopic preparation and material structure research
Orthopedic dentistry laboratory
EHTIC’s ultra-modern biomedical engineering labs are at the forefront of research in artificial intelligence, telemedicine, and medical informatics. Its advanced infrastructure provides a solid foundation for developing and implementing innovative medical technologies and products that improve prevention, early diagnosis, effective treatment, and rehabilitation.
For our students, this visit was an unforgettable experience — a day filled with learning, inspiration, and a glimpse into the future of modern scientific life. They have truly stepped closer to the world of cutting-edge medical research and innovation.
