Ukrainian and international students of Kyiv Medical University took part in an international simulation training on the “ClinCaseQuest” platform

Ukrainian and international students of Kyiv Medical University participated in an international simulation training on the ClinCaseQuest platform — an innovative digital environment designed to develop clinical reasoning and practical skills.

During the training, participants — V–VI Year of Study students Faculty of Medicine — consulted a virtual patient with a complex cardiac rhythm disorder, making clinical decisions in conditions closely resembling real-life medical practice.

The scenarios are based on the principles of cognitive branching (branching simulation) — an original concept developed by Nataliia Lopina, MD, PhD (@linkedin.com/in/lopina-nataliia-md-phd-1bab99160), the founder of the ClinCaseQuest platform — as well as on the model of medical error stratification and the defragmented debriefing system, recognized by the Society in Europe for Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM) as one of the most advanced innovations in medical education in 2024.

This approach allows students to experience the consequences of their clinical decisions, immerse themselves in the logic of diagnosis and treatment, receive immediate automated feedback, and strengthen their clinical reasoning skills.

Currently, students and faculty members of Kyiv Medical University are participating in a pilot project, within which they test both the Ukrainian and English versions of the ClinCaseQuest program. They are also involved in a research study evaluating the impact and effectiveness of integrating this simulation system into the university’s educational process.

Special thanks go to Nataliia Lopina, MD, PhD, founder and developer of the ClinCaseQuest platform, for creating a unique tool that opens new horizons in medical education.

This project marks another step toward integrating modern simulation-based learning into the university’s academic programs, shaping a new generation of physicians who think critically, act confidently, and make clinical decisions at the highest level.
